Crowd Jewel

Crowd Jewel is a community driven jewelry design website. Designers submit designs, the crowd votes, and Crowd Jewel brings the winners to market. We have been called the “Threadless for Jewelry.” Crowd Jewel is a fellow at the Stanford StartX incubator and recently won Lean Startup Machine, Palo Alto.

Hi Courtney, rather than a crowd sourced made to order specific vertical, i am working on a made to order platform of sorts. Like Crowd Jewel (great name!) the community participates as to what it made and who makes it. The special sauce is that everything is made in the USA. I am toying with a few names one of which is USAheadtotoe.

Terrific concept and MVP. Leveraging a sticky community such as handcrafters will increase the degree of user retention and engament (one of the pain points of social networks)

Hi Richard, so does this mean you would be making only apparel (“USAheadtotoe” sounds like it would be clothing/accessories/shoes only)? Other? I’m curious if you would have your own design team or source designers to develop product.

I like the idea a lot! I’m a big fan of Threadless and applying the same concept to jewelry will be something interesting to follow. Jewelry is definitely a market where I think having customized designs will be unique. The idea definitely has the vision to be successful.
